Missouri Governor Mike Parson made two stops in Saline County on Monday, April 26.

Governor Parson first visited Hardeman R-10 School for its Teacher Appreciation Week. Then he visited the Saline County Career Center in Marshall to tour the school and talk about the importance of the classes and programs the school offers.

Governor Parson said when he became governor, he asked himself what he could do to change the needle in the state.

Governor Parson said government needs to make sure to invest in the kids to make sure that in high school they are exposed to the demands of the workforce. He said politicians thought what was best for education. “We all had our own little arenas.”

Governor Parson said it’s important for everybody to work together.

In addition, SCCC Director Brian Wilcoxson asked Governor Parson to present an award.

Marshall Mayor Julie Schwetz and councilmen Dewey Hendrix and Robert Ashford, as well as administrators from several area school districts, were in attendance.
