During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, April 29, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said commissioners opened bids from contractors for B.R.O. Bridge No. 52, which is in Sweet Springs, on Monday, April 26.

Fenner said each bid was quite a bit higher than the estimated cost.

Commissioners approved the lowest bid.

Fenner said the work on the bridge is scheduled to start about the middle of May after the Sweet Springs R-7 school year ends. He said the estimated duration of the project was thought to be about 70 days. But he was informed by the construction company’s owner that it could take as long as 90 days to complete.
