A 21-year-old Kansas City resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly burglarizing a residence on April 20, in Lafayette County.

Authorities were dispatched to the home in response to a report of an unknown female sleeping in the resident’s bed. The reporting party did not know the female.

Upon arrival, officers went to each side of the bed and woke the woman, who was identified as Sundus Yusuf. She was confused as to where she was. The owner said the clothing items and a couple of necklaces Yusuf was wearing were hers. The resident later reported food had been eaten and makeup was broken and thrown around on the bathroom floor. Yusuf’s pants and shoes were located in the same bathroom.

Yusuf was formally arraigned and pleaded not guilty on April 21 to a Class D Felony for Burglary in the Second Degree and a misdemeanor for stealing. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety with 10-percent allowed.

Yusuf’s next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
