The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved a territorial agreement with Evergy West, Inc., during its meeting on Monday, May 3.

According to City Administrator Jeanette Dobson, it is for two properties on the edge of town to which Evergy supplies power. With this agreement, the city of Higginsville will now supply the power to those residences. Both customers have agreed to change service providers to the city of Higginsville.

Dobson says this will be to switch out meters so they can be automatically read. The board also approved a software service and Spectrum lease agreement with Sensus USA, Inc., relating to the same project. Dobson said it will take a few months for all of the meters to be switched out.

In other business, the board voted Scott Rhoad to serve as Mayor Pro Tem; appointed Stanton Thompson as the board’s representative on the Arts Advisory Board; and recognized Danny Logan for 15 years of service with the police department.
