Rehabilitation of the I-70 bridges over Perche Creek in Boone County has been approved by the Highways and Transportation Commission.

During their meeting on Wednesday, commissioners awarded the project to Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc., which submitted the low bid of $2,439,558.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the bridges west of Columbia. I-70 will be open to traffic, but there will be various lane closures and a temporary barrier wall will be in place. Only one bridge will be under construction at a time.

The I-70 eastbound on-ramp from the Midway/Route UU interchange will be closed during the rehabilitation of the eastbound bridge. Midway/Route UU traffic will be detoured to the Route O/J interchange to access eastbound I-70.

This project is scheduled to be completed by December.

These bridges are included in Governor Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
