George Henry Stegner, age 95, of Marthasville, MO., passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 22, 1926 in Pilot Grove, MO., to the late Elmer John and Marcia Alma (nee: Schlotzhauer) Stegner.

Henry grew up in Pilot Grove, MO., where he was one of six children. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp., and served our country during WWII, upon returning, he graduated from high school in Boonville. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Lammers on February 12, 1950 in Pilot Grove. To this union, three children were born. Henry and Jeanette were blessed with 71 wonderful years together. Henry was a long time member of the St. Paul’s UCC in Marthasville. He worked for many years as a farmer and as a truck driver. He also enjoyed and owned five planes over the years. He took many of his friends and family members on plane rides. Henry was a member of the Marthasville American Legion, the Great River Squadron Antique Airplane Club and the Route 66 Car Club. He enjoyed traveling when the kids were small and then after he retired, he and Jeanette enjoyed RV traveling as well as going on bus tours. Henry enjoyed sitting in the swing on the porch of his home, watching the traffic, both on land and in the air.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alma; four siblings, Rudy Stegner, Leroy Stegner, Laura Gail Schler, and Wanda Phillips; one great grandson, Gideon Stegner. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Jeanette; his children, George D Stegner and wife Joy, Alan K Stegner and Charlotte Pedigo, Debra A Borrson and husband Jim; five grandchildren, Tara Stegner, Jeffrey Stegner (Richard), Steven Stegner (Lisa), Jessica Anderson (Eric), Andrew Hunewill (Amber); 3 great grandchildren, Mykah, Phoebe, Madigan; one sister, Lorene Wolfe; other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, at St. Paul’s UCC in Marthasville from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at the church, Friday, May 14, at 11 a.m.

The family will then go to Pilot Grove, for his final resting place on Saturday, May 15. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove, with a graveside service, with military honors, to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
