MaryAnn Matilda (Tezon) Jackson, age 84, of New Franklin, died May 7, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

MaryAnn was born June 20, 1936, in Boonville, MO to William John Joseph and Evelyn (Dillon) Tezon. She graduated from SS Peter & Paul Catholic School in Boonville.

MaryAnn married Robert Elwood Jackson on June 23, 1956. She worked at the Archway Cookie Plant in Boonville where she made many life-long friends, especially Edna Lee Marshall of New Franklin who became like a mother and close friend to MaryAnn. MaryAnn’s husband and father-in-law built a family home in New Franklin where she resided until 2018 when she moved to Ashley Manor in Boonville.

MaryAnn also worked at Watkin’s Nursing Home, IGA Bakery, Wee Discount Store, the Walmart Jewelry Department and as a New Franklin School crossing guard. Her most important job was taking care of all of her grandchildren from birth to school aged.  She loved flower gardening. Her favorite flowers included marigolds, geraniums, lilies and yellow roses. She received many “Yard of the Month” awards. MaryAnn also enjoyed canning garden vegetables, drawing and painting. Lately one of her greatest passions was bird watching, especially humming birds and cardinals.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Ann Jackson-Engle and Sherry Lynn Jackson-Sowers both of New Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Burke-Jackson of Eureka, MO; nine grandchildren, Ryan Tucker (Ellen) of New Franklin, Sarah Smith (Theo) of Columbia, Lindsey Engle (Teddy) and Will Engle of Columbia, LeighAnna Engle-Oswald (Stephen) of New Franklin, and Nathan, Elizabeth and Lucas Jackson all of Eureka, MO and one great-grandchild, Eve Tucker of New Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Elwood Jackson; a son, Robert William Jackson; two sisters, Dorothy Tezon-McDonald and Betty Tezon-Carmichael; and a niece, Debbie Purvis.

Funeral services honoring MaryAnn’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Tim Fairley officiating. A private family burial will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery.  

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
