UPDATED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AT 7:15 P.M.

The Cooper County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad on Thursday, May 13.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, disposed of several dangerous devices that were located outside a residence in Cooper County. The individual located the items and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. The items consisted of older blasting caps and older training munnitions.

All items located were rendered safe by members of the Bomb Squad. All items located were turned over to the MSHP Bomb Squad, which made the items safe by destroying them in a controlled environment.

Authorities say in situations like this, if you ever find items that you believe to be explosive or not even sure what they are, you are advised to not touch or move them. Contact your local authorities and let those with experience take care of the items so no one gets hurt.
