The Lafayette County Health Department is rescinding the Public Health Mask Order effective at 12:01am, June 1, 2021.

Lafayette County sustained a decline in key metrics in seven and 14 day active case average, hospitalizations, and positivity rate. LCHD is also encouraged by the total number of vaccinations administered.

Following CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.

LCHD will continue to monitor key metric trends, and take appropriate action if our situation warrants.

It is strongly encouraged that all eligible citizens to get vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus. While LCHD is encouraged by the trends of key metrics and vaccination rates, it is vital that everyone continue to use several layers of protection: socially distance, wear a mask indoors for non-vaccinated individuals where social distancing is not possible, avoiding unnecessary gatherings and exposures, proper hand hygiene, and sneeze/cough etiquette.
