Several bills were passed by Missouri lawmakers and moved to Governor Mike Parson’s desk for possible approval during the last week of the regular session, according to State Senator Denny Hoskins (R-Warrensburg).
House Bill 85, the Second Amendment Protection Act, which declares that all federal laws, executive orders, regulations, court orders, etc. that infringe on the peoples’ right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution are invalid in Missouri was approved.
House Bill 271- an omnibus package of legislation related to local governments that includes a provision that limits the ability of local health authorities to shut down businesses, churches and other public spaces in response to concerns related to communicable diseases was approved. Any such order would be limited in duration and subject to review by local elected bodies, such as a city or county council. The bill also bans requiring proof of vaccination for access to transportation services or public accommodations.
Senator Hoskins supported both measures.
