
The Sweet Springs board of aldermen discussed a request from a resident involving rezoning.
According to unofficial minutes from the aldermen meeting on Thursday, May 13, Michael Clevenger discussed the possible rezoning of his trailer court on South Locust. He said he is going to deed two different lots to have an overnight RV lot and 20 storage He said he talked to all of the neighbors to get their approval.
Alderman Wyatt Lee said he did not feel the city should rezone the lot to commercial because that could potentially bring in businesses or unwanted traffic to a residential area. It was discussed that aldermen could give him a variance on the lot to allow for the storage units.
After some discussion, it was decided to have Clevenger get the legal description of the lots he wants to place the storage units on, and aldermen voted to have a meeting on Monday, May 17, to discuss the variance.
In other news, aldermen approved the renewal of a one-year lease for the Fair Board at the Sweet Springs Festival Gardens, formerly known as the International Shoe Factory.
