Area authorities have made an arrest regarding shots fired nearly two months ago.
According to the Sedalia Police Department, on February 27, officers were dispatched to Centennial Park for a report of gunfire. Evidence was found in the park and adjacent areas to suggest that gunfire had been exchanged between two vehicles. A victim was treated at Bothwell Regional Health Center for a wound obtained from the gunfire.
Through investigation, detectives were able to develop cause to arrest a 17-year-old for his part in this incident. On April 22, officers stopped a vehicle in which the teen was an occupant. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
A search warrant was obtained for the teen’s residence, and detectives say they found a stolen firearm, child pornography, and evidence to suggest he was distributing controlled substances.
Weapons, drug distribution and child pornography charges are being requested regarding the suspect’s alleged actions. Additional charges will be submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office for actions from other individuals, as well.
Per KMMO policy, the name of the suspect will not be released until formal charges are filed by the Pettis County prosecuting attorney’s office.
