The Higginsville Board of Aldermen opened its meeting on Monday, May 17, with a public hearing regarding the annexation of a property.

City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said it is a property owned by John and Donna Campbell in the vicinity of Highway 13 and Osborn Road. Nobody spoke during the public comment portion of the public hearing.

Dobson says there is now a 14-day waiting period before aldermen can consider approval of the annexation.

In other news, the city recognized Jeff Drury for 15 years of service.

In other business, Dobson said the city approved a proclamation for E.M.S. Week, which is May 16-22.

Dobson said, “We just wanted to recognize the E.M.S. Department and how proud we are that they work in the emergency medical field.”
