During its most-recent meeting, the Slater City Council was given an update on an upcoming annual event honoring a late movie star.

In other news, Griffith said he thinks the opening of the new C&R Market store on Main Street is on track for next month.

C&R Market is moving to the location where Slater General Store was located at 212 Main Street. C&R Market currently is open and located at 133 East Maple Street. Slater General Store closed earlier this year after nearly 20 years of serving Slater and area residents.
