One of three men charged in connection to an incident nearly three years ago in Lafayette County have been sentenced to spend two decades in jail.

On April 26, 2018, officers with the Higginsville Police Department arrived at the scene of the reported kidnapping at the Super 8 Motel in Higginsville and arrested three men, who allegedly held two females against their will; raped and assaulted them; and demanded ransom money.

On March 22, 24-year-old Luis Angel Sierra-Vallina pleaded guilty to two sex-related felonies. The Court has sentenced Sierra-Vallina to a total of 20-years in the Department of Corrections.

On March 31, a jury found 25-year-old Alain Camarillo-Linan guilty of two counts of a felony kidnapping in the first degree and four sex-related felonies. A sentencing hearing in his case is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, June 21 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.

The third defendant, Jaciel Acdala Mendez-Morales, who is now 21 years old, is facing multiple felonies- including Class A Felonies for Kidnapping in the First Degree; Unclassified Felonies for Rape or Attempt; and Unclassified Felonies for Sodomy or Attempt. Mendez-Morales continues to be held on $500,000.

The jury trial scheduled in Mendez-Morales’ case that was set to begin the week of March 29 has been continued for Mental Examination by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
