
A 21-year-old Carthage man will not face jail time, as of now, after he was found to be in possession of a large amount of drugs last July.
Authorities were notified that Chase Johnson was transporting marijuana from Colorado to Missouri at which time, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, obtained a search warrant to ping Johnson’s phone. After several days of monitoring, Johnson’s phone showed that he was traveling back toward Missouri from Colorado.
Once the trooper located Johnson on July 6, 2020 a probable-cause search revealed seven vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana weighing approximately 3.89 pounds.
As part of a plea deal, Johnson withdrew his original plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty, on Monday, May 24 to felony charge for delivery of a controlled substance.
The Court suspended execution of sentence and placed Johnson on five years probation.
