Several bids were discussed during the meeting of the Marshall School Board on Tuesday, May 25.

All of the bids were approved unanimously, except one.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz presented three bids for pest-control services- Steve’s Pest Control for $2,093.50 per month or $25,122 per year; Ecolab for $925 per month or $11,100 per year; and Orkin for $1,728 per month or $20,736 per year. A motion was made by Dr. Erin Meyer to accept the bid from Orkin, but it died due to a lack of a second. On a motion by Ellen Lance and seconded by Ed Harper, the board voted 4-3 to accept a three-year contract bid from Steve’s Pest Control. Harper, Bryon Jacques, Lance and Matt Smith voted yes and Harry Carrell, Meyer and Christy Varner voted no.

The board voted to accept a bid of $549,180 from MidAmerica Sports Construction for the MHS track mill and overlay project. The other bid was $576,200 from Byrne & Jones Construction.

The lone bid from George’s Heating & Cooling in Marshall for $110,258 was approved for HVAC at Eastwood Elementary School.

One bid of $17,734 from Dugan Glass Co. was accepted for 16 storefront windows, two storefront door frames and doors, intruder-resistant glass and heavy-duty door closures at the new Practical Nursing building.

To replace the boiler at Bueker Middle School, the board approved the lone bid of $376,750 from Integrated Facility Services.
