Earlier this year, Saline County officials learned the county will be receiving $4.4 million through the American Rescue Plan Act.

During the county commission meeting on Thursday, May 27, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden said the county is supposed to receive half of the funds soon.

Gooden said commissioners have received some guidelines in an 18-page document.

During a follow-up phone call, Gooden says the county is still perusing the document prior to making any decisions on how it will spend the money. However, she said there is a bullet point on Page 10 that says the money possibly can be used for water, sewer and broadband projects- so that might be a possibility.

Also during the meeting, Gooden gave an update on the bond fund balance.

Commissioners say, in their best estimation, that balance is enough to cover the remainder of the project.
