Born January 5, 1950 in Marshall, he was the son of the late William Dickey and Iona Owens Dickey Mattox, who survives of Marshall.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, Lee Mattox; and a brother, William O. Dickey.

Mr. Dickey was a 1967 graduate of Slater High School.  He was a proud member of the International Operating Engineers Union Local #101, from which he retired in 2016.  For many years, he was known for his heavy equipment and dozer work.  Arnold was the hub of his family.  He was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and spoiled them all.  He remained best friends with his friends from high school, and became just as good friends with their kids.  In his earlier days, he was dubbed “The Mule Spinner”.  Over the years, he cared for mules, horses, coon hounds, a llama, a pot bellied pig, and anything else he could bring home.  He spent his retirement at home with his family, working for local farmers, cooking, hunting mushrooms, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
