A 52-year-old, Fontana, California man is facing a felony drug charge after he was allegedly found to be in possession of a large amount of drugs during a traffic stop in March in Cooper County.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 10:30 p.m., on March 1, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper requested the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit to respond to the 98 mile marker on I-70 for an exterior sniff of a vehicle. Upon arrival, K-9 Grimm was deployed and soon indicated a positive alert for narcotics. Authorities located nearly 76 pounds of methamphetamine- which has an estimated street value of approximately $1 million- inside the vehicle. Ramon Rodriguez-Ramos was arrested.

Rodriguez-Ramos was formally arraigned and pleaded not guilty, on March 9, to a Class A Felony for Trafficking Drugs or Attempt in the First Degree. Bond has not been set yet.

Preliminary Hearing Setting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
