A free historic walking event is scheduled to be held this weekend in Pettis County.

John Homer Bothwell not only had Bothwell Lodge built, he also had a unique road built for himself, workers, friends and family to be able to travel up to the lodge to build and enjoy.

Now it is known as Stonyridge Trail.

Area residents are invited to come and explore this winding trail and learn about the unique structures along the way, the stories behind them, as well as the features of natural Stonyridge.

The Stonyridge Trail walk is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5.

Those who wish to participate are urged to bring water, sunblock, bug spray and should not wear flip-flops.

Participants should meet at the kiosk near the main parking lot by the lodge.
