An inmate at an area jail has been hit with a new charge after a reported incident on April 29.

According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s Department report, authorities say Quincy Pierce, of Sedalia, threw a box shake at a jailer, then attacked her, punching her in the chin before being wrestled to the ground and eventually cuffed by other deputies.

According to court documents, Pierce is in jail due to being charged with a Class B Felony for First-Degree Arson. Bond relating to that charge is $250,000 cash or surety.

Pierce’s new charge is a Class B Felony for Assault in the Second Degree- Special Victim. Bond has not been set yet.

Pierce was indicted by a Grand Jury relating to the Arson charge on May 6. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21. His initial hearing relating to the assault charge is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
