A 28-year-old Sedalia man has been charged with a felony for allegedly assaulting a woman on June 1.

According to a Sedalia Police Report, officers responded to a report of a domestic assault. A woman told authorities she was hit in the face by Austin Schoonover. She also alleged Schoonover strangled her until she couldn’t breathe. She also said he pinned her head against his vehicle and hit her in the head again. Authorities say the woman had suffered noticeable injuries.

Court documents say Schoonover is charged with a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Schoonover’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
