bucksnort-shooting-range

This weekend, almost 50 shooters from 8 states gathered at the Bucksnort Rifle Range to celebrate their 50th anniversary.  This weekend’s competition for the 200 yard smallbore was won by Ken Foster from Plattsmouth, NE with a score of 779 out of 800 possible points.  The 600 yard highpower mid-range prone position competition was also won by Ken Foster with a score of 799 out of 800 points.  The 200, 300, and 600 yard XTC Highpower Missouri State Championship was won by Greg Krebaum of Hutchinson, KS with a score of 790 and the Missouri Champion was David Phillips from Blue Springs with a score of 780.  The EIC match at 200, 300 and 600 yards was won by Friedrich Rettig of Sunset Hills, MO with a score of 486 out of 500.

The Bucksnort Range was founded in 1970 when a group of young competitive target shooters purchased land in Southeast Saline County to dedicate themselves to a sport they enjoyed.  In the beginning the founders had to clear land, build fences, create “the pits” where men would manually raise and lower targets safely for the other shooters.  Because the land was undeveloped, dynamite was frequently used to help build the range.  One time a military helicopter appeared with guns drawn to investigate the commotion.  When they realized the men were not a threat, they waved and flew away.

Since its founding, Bucksnort has been a place where lifelong friendships and target shooting skills are on display and that tradition continues today.  Over the years the range has hosted Regional as well as National competitions and is widely known as one of the best places to enjoy shooting sports.

Bucksnort remains very active today hosting numerous matches each year.  To ensure the tradition continues, they are attempting to locate some of the original shareholders or their decedents to ensure a smooth transition to the next generation of active shooters.  Below is a list of individuals they are trying to find.  If you are an original shareholder not listed below, Bucksnort has your contact information and will be sending additional information soon.
