A St. Louis man is facing a felony after he allegedly displayed a firearm while driving down the interstate.

According to a statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on May 31, a trooper with the Highway Patrol was advised that the driver a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on I-70 displayed a semi-automatic pistol out the driver side window at the reporting party. The trooper located the vehicle at the 93-mile-marker on I-70 and initiated a traffic stop.

When the trooper approached the vehicle he observed the alleged pistol on the floorboard, behind the passenger seat. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Keion Butler, admitted to the trooper that he had, in fact, been involved in a “road rage” incident after the driver of another vehicle attempted to run him off the roadway. Butler reportedly told the trooper that he did hold the firearm up in the air.

A search of the vehicle revealed the pistol on the rear passenger floorboard, the magazine for the pistol in the passenger seat and a loose round in the center console. The trooper also located several marijuana “joints” and a canister of marijuana in the center console. Butler provided proof of a medical marijuana card to the trooper.

Court documents indicate that Butler is charged with a felony for unlawful use of a weapon exhibiting. Bond is set at $7,500 cash or surety.

His next court appearance is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
