A Hughesville resident charged with domestic assault in Pettis County recently changed her plea in court .

Jodie Cornine pleaded guilty on April 19 to a Class D Felony of Domestic Assault in the Second Degree. The judge sentenced her to spend five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, which includes 120 of shock treatment. A report will be filed with the court after the shock treatment.

Jodie Cornine, also charged in Saline County Circuit Court with the class B felony of Burglary 1st Degree and class E felony assault 3rd degree, entered a not-guilty plea on March 19 and awaits a change of judge relating to an incident that took place on August 6, 2020.

According to a police report, on August 6, a Sweet Springs resident said she was awoken from sleep to loud banging on her door. She said as soon as she attempted to open the door, it was forced open, and she was knocked backwards. The victim identified Jodie Cornine as the person who ran through the door and began assaulting her.

Court documents say as part of a plea agreement on May 17, Michael Cornine pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of a misdemeanor for trespassing in relation to the August 6, 2020 incident and was ordered to pay a $500 fine.
