Alleen Gieseke Meyer, age 95, of Sweet Springs and formerly of Concordia, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Sweet Springs Villa.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at St. John’s Cemetery near Emma, with Pastor Tim Biesemeyer officiating. There will be no visitation.

Born August 31, 1925 in Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Gieseke and Anna Klingenberg Gieseke. On July 22, 1950 she married Wilfred Meyer who preceded her in death on December 10, 2005. Alleen lived in the Sweet Springs and Concordia areas her entire life and was a carrier for the Kansas City Star for many years and then retired from Unitog. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a former member of the I-70 Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Zumbehl (Jim) and Ruth Haesemeier (Robert), all of Sweet Springs; three grandchildren: Denise Zumbehl, Jennifer Lighthall (Mark) and Sarah Burton (Chris); two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Greyson; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ann Stoll; one son, Robert Wayne Meyer; a great-grandson, Hunter Burton; three sisters: Mildred Meyer, Minerva Tieman and Elna Richardson; and one brother, Arthur Gieseke Jr.
