Consistent with the enactment of a new federal statute and state statute providing for state holidays as designated by law, the Office of Administration announced that all state offices will be closed Friday, June 18, to celebrate Juneteenth Day (June 19).

Juneteenth is a new national holiday that recognizes an important event in the country’s history.

It is the nation’s first new national holiday in almost 40 years. President Joe Biden signed it into law on Thursday, June 17.

Juneteenth has been previously recognized by Missouri law in Section 9.161, RSMo, and commemorates the day that slavery came to an end in the United States.

The closures include the Saline County Courthouse.
