A friendly reminder has been issued by the City of Marshall, Marshall Municipal Utilities (MMU) and MOPEP.

With the temperature forecast, there is a good possibility MMU and MOPEP could set peak electric demands. To help keep electric cost down, Marshall residents need to conserve electricity from 2 to 6 p.m. today.

Things that can be done to help keep consumption down during this time include:
-Turn off and/or unplug any items not necessary to complete work- including lights, motors, computers, etc.
-Raise thermostats to 78 degrees or higher. Consider using a fan to stay comfortable because it will use much less energy than air-conditioning.
-Avoid use of any appliances- ovens, microwaves, coffee pots, washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.
-Avoid using hot water if it is an electric water heater.
-Try and schedule any work or processes that require use of electricity around the hours of 2 to 6 p.m.

Remember, anything that you can do to help keep this cost down, no matter how small, will help MMU and its customers save money.
