
Clarence Weldon “Jack” LaRue, age 98, of Independence and formerly of Marshall, died Friday, June 18, 2021, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at First Christian Church at 125 S. Pleasant St. in Independence, with Rev. Colby Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall.

Born May 2, 1923 in Marshall, he was the son of the late Clarence White LaRue and Erma Keirn LaRue. On August 17, 1946 he married Elsie M. Bennett who survives of the home. Jack served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Jack farmed for several years and retired from Pitman Manufacturing in the Kansas City area. Following retirement, Jack enjoyed photography and took numerous photos for real estate agencies. Jack and Elsie moved to Independence in 1963 and were members of First Christian Church.
In addition to his wife of nearly 75 years, Elsie; he is survived by one daughter, Carol LaRue of Independence; and one grandson, Matthew Puls of Blue Springs.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ron LaRue; and a sister, Catherine Adele Adams.
