A 63-year-old Warsaw woman charged with felonies after law-enforcement officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, has a court proceeding set for Wednesday, June 23.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Department received a call just before 6:30 a.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance where a male subject was shot and killed. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it appeared the victim had died as a result of a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. It was determined that Patricia Garvey allegedly had shot the victim during an argument.

Garvey claims the gun went off accidentally when the victim swiped the muzzle of the gun to the side.

Garvey is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Garvey posted $25,000 surety bond on December 29.

Garvey’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, at Benton County Circuit Court.
