At the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, June 24, commissioners said it will take some time for them to put a plan together to disperse the $2.2 million the county has received through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden said the Task Force has not been put together yet. She said there is no real time line yet.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said the county has received an update on the Frequently Asked Questions for more guidance on how the money can be spent.

Gooden says they want to take their time and make sure they do things right because the county will be audited. Fenner said some smaller cities in the county have started to apply for their funds.

In all, the county is slated to receive another $2.2 million in relief funds in the future.
