mmu-treatment-plant-flood

Record rainfall amounts have caused Salt Fork Creek to reach an unprecedented level of flooding.

According to Marshall Municipal Utilities, water has risen above a levee designed to protect MMU’s wastewater treatment plant from flooding and caused a temporary shutdown of the plant.

Not only has flooding caused a shutdown of the plant, but it has also caused the entire sanitary sewer collection system to back up. This condition will continue until the level of water on Salt Fork Creek recedes.

While the collection system is still flowing, the amount of water it can handle has been greatly reduced.

MMU asks that everyone limit the use of any water that would flow into the sanitary sewer system until further notice.

MMU is working to gather the resources necessary to get the plant back in operation once flood water levels recede.
