
Two inmates at an area jail are facing charges for allegedly soliciting introduction of illegal contraband to the jail from an outside source in May.
According to probable-cause statements from authorities at the Boonville Correctional Center, each Joshua B. Thigpen and Armon R. Simpson placed a phone call to a man on parole to check on the status of packages being sent to the jail.
On May 10, the mail room intercepted three envelopes that tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids.
According to court documents, Thigpen and Simpson each is charged with a Class D Felony for Delivery or Possession of a Controlled Substance at a County Jail.
An initial hearing for each subject is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
