An area creek has risen to a new record level.

Due to recent heavy rainfall, the National Weather Service reports Wakenda Creek at Carrollton just broke its record flood of 20.95 feet set on August 2, 2016, and now stands at 20.97 feet.

Major flooding occurs at 21 feet, and it was expected to crest at 21.20 feet earlier today. At 21.10 feet, water will top the South Main Street Bridge.

According to MODOT, U.S. Highway 65 is now closed between Waverly and Carrollton.
