On Friday, June 25, Marshall Municipal Utilities issued an urgent message to residents that water had risen above a levee designed to protect MMU’s wastewater treatment plant from flooding and caused a shutdown of the plant. However, Salt Fork Creek has receded enough to resume regular operation.
MMU officials say Marshall Municipal Utilities’ staff members worked throughout the weekend in response to the impact flooding had on the wastewater treatment plant and the sewer collection system.
The collection system is now able to handle normal sewer use. MMU customers are no longer asked to limit the use of water flowing into the sanitary sewer system.
MMU staff members are again able to access all portions of the wastewater treatment plant, and restoration work has begun.
MMU officials say “We would like to thank customers for their assistance during this flood event.”
