With some lightening up of the heavy rainfall in the last day or so, the area has been able to take a breather as far as the rising number of road closures. But the number of road closures is still significant.

MODOT is reporting the closures are in Saline, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Johnson Counties.

However, one important area roadway that was closed has been opened to traffic. MODOT says Highway 41 between Marshall and Miami is now open to traffic. Also, U.S. Highway 65 between Waverly and Carrollton has been reopened to traffic, but MODOT says drivers should expect delays.

In Saline County, Highway 127 north of Sweet Springs at Salt Pond Creek; Route VV north of I-70 near Emma; Route UU just east of Highway 65; Route O just west of Slater; Routes N, H and DD in the Napton/Nelson area; Route P north of Arrow Rock; and Route EE just north of Highway 20; and Route E between Highway 41 and Route H are closed.

In Carroll County, Highway 10 between Carrollton and Norborne; and Route PP just north of Norborne are closed.

In Cooper County, Panther Road between Route B and Route U; Route B between Route J and Lone Grove Road; Routes DD and K near Blackwater; and Routes OO, U and V are closed.
