An area high school basketball program has been one of the best in the state of Missouri for the better part of 50 years.

According to minutes from the Glasgow School Board meeting on Wednesday, June 29, the district recently received word from U.S. Representative Vicky Hartzler that on May 12, the Glasgow High School boys basketball program was honored with a Congressional Record announcement for its enshrinement into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

In part, the Congressional Record reads: “This small Howard County community has produced one of the most successful basketball programs in state history…. with the Yellowjackets advancing to 16 Final Fours and earning Class 1 State championships in 1974, 1978 and 1980. In addition, this roundball powerhouse has won 37 district titles and 28 conference championships.”

In action items from the meeting, the board approved the finalization of the 2020-21 budget and the preliminary working budget for the 2021-22 school year.
