A 60-year-old Belton man who is facing a drug-related felony charge after authorities say they found controlled substances in a vehicle that belonged to him and was parked at a residence in Pettis County on March 5 is due in court this week.

According to a probable-cause statement, authorities executed a narcotics search warrant on Bugger Town Road and found more than $1,200 and a small Ziploc bag containing a crystal substance in jeans that belonged to Ricky Coutts.

In Coutts’ vehicle, authorities say they also located 10 separate clear bags with a crystal substance, weighing a total of 138 grams.

Coutts is charged with a Class B Felony for Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree. Coutts posted surety bond on March 25.

The case was bound over to the trial division, and Coutts waived his formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty on June 7.

Coutts’ next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
