A 25-year-old Warrensburg man died in a rollover traffic crash in Cass County on Tuesday, July 6.

A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Austin Duffey, of Holden, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, overturned and came to rest in a creek.

A passenger, Tristan Ervin, was pronounced deceased at the scene by a first responder at 6:01 p.m. Duffey was transported by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for treatment of moderate injuries. Neither of the vehicle’s occupants was wearing a seat belt.

The crash happened at 5:18 p.m. on East 171st Street, just east of Shimel Road.
