Earlier this year, it was announced that Saline County was going to be receiving $4.4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) signed into law by President Joe Biden.
The county has received half of its disbursement, but there are still many questions as to how the money can be spent.
During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, July 8, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden said no decisions have been made as to how the money will be spent.
Gooden said the state’s portal to be used by small towns and municipalities is not operational yet.
Gooden further clarified that the federal portal is set up because that’s from where the county received its money. But the one for the non-entitlement units and smaller municipalities has not been put online yet.
