The Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters has received numerous communications from concerned citizens across the state that it has been contacted by an individual stating they are with the “Firefighters and EMS Funds of Missouri” or with the “Firefighter Cancer Trust” and is asking for donations.

You are advised that this is a scam.

The Missouri State Council of Firefighters or its affiliate IAFF Locals within the state of Missouri are not conducting any telemarketing fundraising campaigns. Newly-enacted legislation has created a legitimate “Firefighter Cancer Trust,” but the trust does not solicit donations.

Officials say, “If you receive a phone call from this organization or individual who reports to be with the “Firefighters and EMS Fund of Missouri” or asks for donations for the “Firefighter Cancer Trust”, you are asked to send us an e-mail and provide the telephone number with the area code So we can report this to the Missouri Attorney General’s office.”
