Information is now available regarding the rehabilitation of the Bonne Femme Creek Bridge Deck on Highway 40 bridge over Bonne Femme Creek, east of New Franklin in Howard County. The Missouri Department of Transportation is inviting nearby residents and travelers to share their thoughts.
The 73-year-old bridge has reached the point where re-decking the bridge is necessary to extend the life and usability of the bridge by up to 30 years.
Highway 40 will be closed at the bridge during construction. This project will be awarded in required combination with the Howard County Highway 40 replacement over Salt Creek/Katy Trail and Highway 240 Spur over Moniteau Creek in Howard County.
Only one bridge on Highway 40 will be closed at a time. Specific lane-closure information will be announced by MoDOT through signs, media releases and social media when a timeline for the project has been established.
This project is expected to begin in 2022 and be completed in early 2023.
Motorists and area residents can ask questions or provide feedback on this project using the digital comment form at modot.org/Howard40BonneFemme. The online public comment period is open through Friday, July 23.
