
A 46-year-old North Carolina man is facing a couple of drug related felonies following a traffic stop in Lafayette County last May.
According to a probable cause statement, May 11, 2020, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, displaying Idaho tags, that he observed cutting in on an overtaken vehicle on Interstate 70.
After the driver, identified as Jeffrey Carmichael, refused to a consensual search of his vehicle, the trooper called in assistance from the Oak Grove Police Department and their canine unit. During his exterior sniff of the vehicle, the canine indicated that there was some form of drugs present.
A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 35-pounds of marijuana, and approximately 300 grams of THC infused edibles.
Carmichael pleaded not guilty on September 16 to a felony delivery of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid and a felony for possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid.
A Plea/Trial setting in this case is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 19 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
