A 46-year-old Smithton man facing a couple of felonies following an altercation in Sedalia on June 23, 2020, has a court proceeding set for this week.

A Pettis County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene of a reported disturbance involving a weapon. The alleged victim claims that Christopher Cowles illegally entered her home while she was sleeping, began yelling at her and then proceeded to her roommate’s room where he began threatening the roommate.

Cowles is charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a Class C Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Cowles posted $5,000 surety bond on August 31, 2020.

Cowles’ next court appearance is scheduled for at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 19, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
