The Higginsville Board of Aldermen opened its meeting on Monday, July 19, hearing from Dane Drysdale with McClure Engineering about the city’s upcoming sewer project.

Drysdale explained the bond issue that will be on the ballot; why the city needs the improvement; DNR regulations and more.

Higginsville voters will decide yes or no on the bond issue on Tuesday, August 3.

In other news from the meeting, four public hearings were held regarding annexations of properties. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson said nobody made any comments during any of those, so the annexations will come before the Board of Aldermen for possible approval during a future meeting.

There were three bills on the agenda for the board to consider regarding water rates. Dobson explains.

The other two bills were for the same rate increase for the city of Mayview and the Public Water Supply District. The board approved the bills, and the new rates will go into effect during the August 20 to September 20, 2021, billing period, with the new rates being charged on the utility statements due in October.
