A Slater man who has been charged with a felony after he allegedly was the person who was found sleeping in a house that had been secured by its owner earlier this year is due in court on Wednesday, July 21.

According to Marshall Police, on April 8, the resident reported she returned home after being gone a few days for work to find a strange man sleeping in her bed at a residence on Highway 41. The resident woke up the man, who fled the scene wearing some of the resident’s husband’s clothing. The resident gave a description of the man and what he was wearing, as well as took some photos of him as he was leaving. Authorities found evidence of forced entry into the residence.

Through the use of the description and matching a vehicle that was parked in the area to its owner, authorities put together a photo lineup. The resident immediately identified the subject as Clarence Ousiner Stephenson, who was arrested after being reported near the same property on April 11.

Court documents say Stephenson is charged with a felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a misdemeanor for stealing. Bond remains at $15,000.

Stephenson was arraigned on April 12. A preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. at Saline County Circuit Court.
