Johnnie Gann, age 67, of Corder, Missouri, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.  

He was born in 1954 in Marshall, Missouri, to John Leo and Thelma (Nichols) Gann. Johnnie grew up in Mayview, and went to Mayview Elementary and then Odessa High school, graduating in 1973.

Johnnie and Gwen (Hodges) Gann were married on October 25, 1975. During their 47 years of marriage, they had three beautiful children. Johnnie and Gwen moved to Corder and raised their children there. They have been residents of Corder for 40 years. Johnnie was a 27 year employee at Milbank Manufacturing Company, a member of IBEW local #124, and was looking forward to his retirement in August. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Higginsville.

Johnnie loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in all their activities, including softball, baseball, volleyball, football, basketball, soccer and track. He was their biggest fan and never missed an event.

It what little free time he had away from his grandchildren’s activities, Johnnie loved to go fishing, watch racing, and enjoying time with family and friends. He loved listening to his old country music, and some AC/DC and Meatloaf. Johnnie always had a good joke to tell everyone, and had no problem with telling you “like it is”. He always had a smile on his face, and could talk to anyone. He will be remembered by his loved ones as a hardworking man who was willing to give the clothes off his back to help whoever he could. He will be dearly missed.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Gann; his father-in-law, James Hodges.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Gann, of the home; son, Justin Gann, of Corder; daughter, Melissa Huseynov (Parviz), of Higginsville; three grandchildren, Kyzer Gann-Vega, Kyana Huseynov and Kyamila Huseynov, all of Higginsville; sister, Sharon Fiene, of Higginsville; mother-in-law, Dorthy Hodges; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Kaiser-Wiegers Funeral Home in Higginsville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, officiated by Dr. Greg Fine and Ronald Klingenberg, also at the funeral home. He will be buried at the City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Parviz Huseynov, Kyzer Gann-Vega, Earl Fiene, Jerry Fiene, Steve Whitt and Caleb Fiene.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Lafayette Co. C-1 Booster Club. These funds go towards the Husker Athletes. He was a big fan of the Huskers.
