Doris L. Barnes, 87, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, July 22 at Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating.  Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  The family request no flowers, but instead memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or Marshall Senior Center.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born July 3, 1934, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late William H. Heuman and Selma Anna Hinnah Heuman.  Doris was a 1951 graduate of Slater High School and a 1955 graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Kansas City where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.  She worked at various RN nursing jobs, completely retiring in 2001.  On September 11, 1959 she married Melvin R. Barnes who preceded her in death on November 17, 2009.  Doris was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Malan of rural Clinton and Beverly Puckett (John) of Independence; one son, Gary Barnes of rural Clinton; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Heuman; and one sister, Mildred Schuster.
