One Saline County teen competing in the goat-tying event is in position to advance to the championship round at the National High School Finals Rodeo.

According to the event’s website, Karsyn Fuchs, of Marshall, currently is third in average with a time of 16.44 seconds. The leader has a time of 15.76 seconds, and second place is 16.2.

Second-go performances will continue through Saturday morning. If Fuchs stays in the top 20, she will advanced to the championship round scheduled to take place Saturday night.

Jeb Nelsen, of Marshall, currently is 20th in the steer wrestling average at 16.8 seconds- 5.54 in his first round of competition and 11.26 in his second round. Nelsen also was 46th in calf tie-down roping average at 9.93 seconds.

Paige Lilleman, of Malta Bend, also competed in goat tying. Erika Lilleman, of Malta Bend, and Alexis Neff, of Marshall, competed in barrel racing.

Performances continue through Saturday, July 24, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
